Dear SQliters,

This is not an SQLite question. Since transition to the forum, I tried to subscribe and failed. I did not receive email from the forum. I tried to email to Richard directly and email bounced. Something is blacklisted. The bounce email had some links to follow (office 365 delist portal), and I did, but it is "unable to submit request right now". What a joke. Can anyone suggest what to do?

Thank you,

Roman

Specifically, the Outlook email server upon which Roman gets his email has blacklisted the 45.33.6.223 IP address, which is the IP address of the machine that hosts the Fossil forum.

I have been trying to tell you folks that outlook has sqlite site blocked. I have an email with @outlook.com and none of these get to my inbox. They go to the spam folder. I have written rules, I have set the from address to safe senders, nothing works. I had to go back to yahoo to get your emails.

I also had 3 different support request with microsoft, and they all asked me to ask Mr. Hipps to contact them. I said, "That man has no time to be dealing with you guys. You need to talk to your technical folks and tell them that the SQLite site is being blacklisted." Nothing was done. So, I am now back to yahoo because of Microsoft blacklisting the sqlite IP.

I had a similar problem with a week-and-a-bit ago: a regular group email that I send, and had been working for several years, bounced for Outlook-related addresses (@live.co.uk and @hotmail.com), with Outlook saying:

550 5.7.1 Unfortunately, messages from [www.xxx.yyy.zzz] weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list (S3150). You can also refer your provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors. [AM6EUR05FT014.eop-eur05.prod.protection.outlook.com]

I had to get my ISP to "de-list [the IP of their mail server] from [Outlook's] blocklist", so I strongly suspect Richard, as the owner/maintainer of the IP-address sending SQLite's emails will have to do the same.

The bounce message in the sqlite.org server mail log says:

To request removal from this list please visit https://sender.office.com/ and follow the directions.

I did this. The page wants an email address for verification and the IP address to be unblocked. I entered both. An email was sent (to drh@sqlite.org) which went into spam, but I was able to dig it out. The text said (literally):

please confirm your email address by clicking the following link: Confirm your email address

With no hyperlink. So I had to dig into the email source text to find the original message:

Decoding the base64 yields some HTML:

<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=us-ascii" /></head><body><img src="cid:HeaderImage" /><br /><p>Thank you for submitting a request to delist an IP address. To complete the process, please confirm your email address by clicking the following link: <a href="https://sender.office.com/Delist/DelistIP?email=drh%40sqlite.org&amp;ip=45.33.6.223&amp;ttl=637225611088003086&amp;token=JlaMwBr6xmOtcXTK%2bx69WxWEOyKorMfY81bj88jMYy4%3d">Confirm your email address</a><br /></p><p>**NOTE - Please do not respond to this email. It's sent from an unmonitored address.**</p></body></html>

I put that HTML into a file on disk, then brought up the file in a web-browser, thus gives me the hyperlink. I click on the link. Then the page tells me:

The IP address in question is not currently blocked in our system.

(Sigh....)

it has a link to:

https://sender.office.com/ "Office 365 Anti-Spam IP Delist Portal"

It's a 3-step process (send verification / confirm email address / Delist IP )

I have an email with @outlook.com and none of these get to my inbox. They go to the spam folder.

That would mean sqlite.org is not blocked completely at the IP level, mail is apparently accepted by outlook.com.

I have written rules, I have set the from address to safe senders, nothing works.

Also weird. There are two addresses you would havbe to mark as trusted (or put in your address book :

The sender address

sqlite-forum@sqlite.org
and the envelope-from address:
root@sqlite.org

I'm glad my mail-provider-for-mailing-lists-and-notifications doesn't cause that kind of trouble.

These were added, and I even sent 3 different emails content to the last guy I exchanged emails with. So, there was definitely a problem. I had rules that he asked me to create, and that didn't work either. Long story, and lots of wasted effort with MS.
